Women’s Basketball Edged by Endicott, 81-75

WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College women's basketball team suffered an 81-75 setback to Endicott Wednesday evening at the Bennett Center.
 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Woynitu Ciccarello (East Haddam, Conn.) splashed a three-pointer in the final seconds of the first period to give Gordon an 18-14 lead through 10 minutes of action.
  • The Fighting Scots narrowly outscored the Gulls 18-16 in the second frame to hold a 36-30 advantage at the halftime intermission.
  • Endicott seized a 45-43 edge with 5:25 remaining in the third frame and extended the margin to double-figures late in the quarter.
  • The Gulls rattled off 33 points in the third while Gordon chalked up 15 points as the guests owned a 63-51 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
  • Endicott grabbed a 16-point advantage with 7:53 left to play in regulation on a bucket by Tricia Wladkowski, 71-55.
  • Gordon cut the deficit to 80-75 with 11 second remaining as Leah McGarvey (Harrisburg, Pa.) banked in a layup and Jayme Kiser (Braintree, Mass.) canned a three-pointer.
  • The visitors were able to hang on down the stretch to snap a two-game skid.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Woynitu Ciccarello (East Haddam, Conn.) poured in a team-high 25 points to go with four assists.
  • Sophie Peters (Sidney, Mont.) posted 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
  • Leah McGarvey (Harrisburg, Pa.) notched 14 points.
  • Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) finished with 11 points and eight boards.
  • Gordon concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 46.6% and drained 10-of-23 from beyond the arc.
  • Endicott shot 43.6% from the floor and 47.6% from three-point territory.
  • Aleah Bracey led the Gulls with 27 points while Tricia Wladkowski tallied 25 points.
