Women’s Rowing Debuts at Henley Women’s Regatta

HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England- The Gordon College women's rowing team made its first-ever trip to the prestigious Henley Women's Regatta over the weekend in the United Kingdom. The Fighting Scots' competed in the Academic Aspirational 4x event to vie for the Nina Padwick Trophy.
 
LilyAnna Hopkins, Quinn Arico, Sarah Petrenko, and Emily Nerger represented Gordon as crews from across the globe descended upon the Thames River for the three-day regatta.
 
The Fighting Scots launched action Friday with time trials as 21 boats battled for 16 qualifying spots. Gordon finished in the top 16 to advance to the side-by-side racing stage of the Nina Padwick Trophy competition.
 
Gordon returned to the water Saturday for head-to-head action, facing off against the University of London in the opening round. The Fighting Scots crossed the finish line in 5:30.60, just behind the boat from the University of London.
 
Reading University's "A" squad ultimately captured the Nina Padwick Trophy after outdueling the University of London Sunday.
