Women’s Soccer Drops Midweek Match at Clark

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Gordon College women's soccer team fell 6-1 at Clark Wednesday evening in a non-conference clash.
 
 
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 1, Clark 6
Records: Fighting Scots (1-4-1) | Cougars (4-1-0)


HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Clark captured a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute as Marcela Gonyea found the back of the net off of a feed from Selene Hammad.
  • The Cougars notched their second tally of the game in the final minute of the first half to widen the gap to 2-0.
  • Clark tacked on its third goal of the night in the 75th minute and added a score in the 79th minute to stretch its advantage to 4-0.
  • The home side pushed its lead to 5-0 with a strike in the 83rd minute before capping off the scoring with a tally in the 88th minute.
  • Gordon got on the board in the 89th minute to cut the deficit to 6-1. Marin Peterson (White Bear Lake, Minn.) bagged her first collegiate goal and Willow Forbes-Smith (Bridgewater, Mass.) collected her first career assist.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Eowyn Lapp (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) paced Gordon with six shots and two shots on goal.
  • Ava Cote (Hooksett, N.H.) started the match in goal and registered four saves. Madison Amati (Whitinsville, Mass.) entered the contest at halftime and finished with two saves.
  • The Fighting Scots posted 10 shots on the night while Clark produced 24 shot attempts.
