Ryan Yurchick

Ryan Yurchick is in his second year as an assistant with the Gordon College track and field teams after joining the staff during the winter of 2012. Yurchick’s primary focus is on the throwing events and the development of strength and conditioning workouts for the necessary event groups. In his short time of just over a year working with the Gordon throwers, Yurchick has seen his student-athletes break five school records. The Gordon throwers have also recently added ECAC Qualifier in the weight throw to their growing list of accomplishments. Yurchick also worked with the nearby Danvers High School teams where he coached one of the top-ranked male throwers (discus/shot) in the state and also mentored a freshman to a top eight finish in the girls’ javelin(116’4”) at the MIAA All-State meet.

Yurchick found his way to the North Shore following four successful years at the Division I Patriot League institution Lehigh University. During his time at Lehigh, he had full reign of the throwing events and also served as the recruiting/events coordinator for two of those years. In nearly every indoor and outdoor season while at Lehigh, Yurchick would find at least one of his throwers making a run at a Patriot League title in his or her respective event. He guided his student-athletes to a number of honors. Those honors included: two NCAA National Qualifiers, four NCAA East Regional Qualifiers, four All-East Performers, 18 IC4A/ECAC Qualifiers, two Patriot League Champions, eight All-Patriot League Performers, two school records.

He completed his undergraduate studies with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven University in the spring of 2007. While at Lehigh, Yurchick earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He is also a teacher in the Beverly public schools.

Native to Northwestern Pa., Yurchick and his brother founded the Allegheny Mountain Throwers Club in 2004. In the summer of 2013 Yurchick formed the North Shore Throwers Club. The clubs focus on providing those of all ages with year-round training options for track and field. This is done with hopes of growing youth interest in the throwing events and allowing current students/coaches of the sport to train and share ideas within a community of like minds.
