Before Gordon

  • Upon graduation, Miela began his coaching career with conference rival Assumption College where he assumed the role of assistant track & field coach, sprints and hurdles. At Assumption, Miela recruited heavily in the greater New England area and developed programs in the weight room for a team who went on to break every school sprint record and recorded their best finish in the New England 10 Conference in school history in 2016-2017.
  • In the spring of 2017, Miela returned to his Californian roots to take the reigns as the head track and field coach at JSerra Catholic High School where he again coached his team to their best finish in school history.
  • Making his return to the college ranks, Miela joined the Biola University Track & Field coaching staff in the summer of 2018, continuing his specialty in sprints/hurdles. After a shortened 2020 season, Biola came back strong in 2021 with 11 total All-Region selections, including a pair of sprint and hurdle student-athletes as well as their first ever trip to compete at the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships. To cap off the honors for an impressive season, two of Miela's student-athletes were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Americans after finishing in the top 10 at National Championships.
