With the appointment of Rob Mansfield as the new head baseball coach of the Fighting Scots, Alex Smith is the Player of the Week after leading the team in batting average (.319) a season ago. The starting shortstop for the Scots, Smith finished second on the team in hits with 38, doubles (8), and had the least strikeouts (10) of any everyday player.
