A 2010 The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Second Team selection and Gordon's leading scorer (11g, 4a), senior-captain Samantha Neverett (Athol, Mass.) returns to lead Gordon Field Hockey's 2011 charge.
Neverett, a business administration major, has contributed an impressive 19 goals and 10 assists in two years of work at Gordon while helping facilitate the Scots' transition game.
Helping her captain the season's effort are fellow seniors Clara Baker (Underhill, Vt.), Ashley Moulton (Reading, Mass.), and Brianne Gilbert (Windsor, Conn.). Playing forward for the Fighting Scots for the past three seasons, Baker started in all but one game of her team's games last season. Over the course of her career, the secondary education and math double major has tallied 12 goals and dished six assists. Alongside her on the front line, Moulton, a psychology and communication arts double major, has been a contributing reserve for the Scots in each of her three seasons at Gordon. In the midfield, Gilbert, a music education major, has played a key role in the Scots' defense while also coming forward out of the back to post 10 goals in her three years as a Scot.
Said Head Coach Cory Ward of his leadership, "Each of these players brings a unique set of skills and strengths to our team which I and the rest of the team feel provide fully rounded leadership to our program. They will act as our team within the team, setting the example for communication, servanthood, and intensity for the collective group."
