Freshman Damon Kilgore (Londonderry, N.H.) doubled up the hardware this week, as he earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie Runner of the Week honors after winning the Pop Crowell Invitational outright on Saturday morning. Kilgore's week got even better on Tuesday, as he was named Gordon Athlete of the Week.

Kilgore has had several battles with fellow CCC freshman in the team's first two meets of the year, but he finally got over the hump on Saturday in the Gordon woods with time of 27:52 in the 8K event. After finishing just behind Wentworth's Daniel McSolla in the first two events of the year, Kilgore was able to edge out the Co-Rookie of the Week by almost 20 seconds at the Pop Crowell. Kilgore's first overall individual performance led the Fighting Scots to a team finish of third place, just behind conference opponents University of New England and Wentworth.

Gordon's final tuneup before the CCC Championships is on October 18 at the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Western New England University.
