Gordon Baseball senior outfielder/pitcher Mark Fitzgerald (Camarillo, Calif.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week and Gordon's Chick-fil-A Athlete of the Week for games through March 8.

Fitzgerald displayed some early season power at the plate, slugging home runs in two different games for the Fighting Scots, who opened the 2015 season with four games in Winter Haven, Florida. He batted .400 (4-for-10) with two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored in doubleheaders with St. Mary's (Minn.) and Wheaton (Ill.) on March 6 and 7. The seasoned veteran also pitched a complete game five-hitter to lead Gordon to a 5-1 win in its first-ever matchup with Wheaton College (Ill.). In seven innings of work, Fitzgerald allowed one unearned run on five hits while striking out six and walking three.

After a head-to-head with St. Joseph's (Maine) on Monday, the Scots will round out their spring trip with non-conference doubleheaders against Ursinus on March 11 and Fitchburg State on March 12.
