Freshman guard Eric Demers (West Wareham, Mass.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time after leading the Scots to a 1-1 record to begin conference play. Demers broke a three-week stretch of Nichols' Marcos Echevarria being named as the recipient of the award.
 
Demers has been a standout for the Fighting Scots through six games by leading the team in scoring with a 15.7 points-per-game average. He is one of three Gordon players to average double digits through the first quarter of the schedule.
 
His scoring saw an uptick during the first week of conference play and led the Fighting Scots in points in each of their two CCC games. Against Western New England, Demers scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting and distributed the ball for four assists in an 11-point win. Gordon had to climb out of a deep hole at Roger Williams on Saturday and Demers nearly led the Scots back from the 12-point deficit. He became the first 20-point scorer for Gordon this season with 25 points in a 73-71 loss to the Hawks.
