Freshman forward Hans Miersma (Whitinsville, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week and Gordon's Athlete of the Week for his standout play on the court last week for the Fighting Scots.

Miersma collected his second double-double of his rookie season in a one-game week for Gordon, registering 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the Scots' 67-53 home win over non-conference Wheelock. He shot 50 percent from the floor and was perfect from the stripe on two attempts.

Overall on the season he is averaging 6.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The Fighting Scots are on winter recess until they return to the court at the Vanguard Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif. on December 29.
