Jane (Dietrich) Ward was named head coach of Gordon women's lacrosse program October 2016.
In her two seasons as head coach, Ward has led the Fighting Scots to a 16-20 overall record and two appearances in the CCC tournament. The 2016 team advanced to the semifinals where they fell to eventual Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Endicott. She has coached five athletes that received All-CCC honors, including three All-CCC First Team honorees in Katelyn Dyer, Melanie Dwyer, and Olivia McCarrick during the 2017 season. Dyer was also named CCC Rookie of the Year.
Ward served as interim head coach following the departure of Regan Denham after her two years on the job in August 2016 before being named full-time head coach.
She was was also an assistant coach during the 2015-16 academic year, helping the Fighting Scots to a playoff appearance in 2016.
Prior to coaching at Gordon, Ward was the assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Nyack College, an NCAA Division II program in New York, for the 2014-15 academic year. The Warriors won their most games in program history during her time there.
Ward graduated from Gordon with a B.A. in visual arts in May 2014 and played three seasons for the Fighting Scots from 2012-14. Her efforts on attack and in the midfield helped Gordon to an appearance in the 2012 CCC title game. Ward also received All-CCC Academic Team accolades twice during her collegiate career.
In addition to lacrosse, Ward was a member of the Gordon Women's soccer team for two seasons (2012, 2013). She spent her freshman year at Westmont College where she was a member of the Warriors NAIA Track & Field program, helping break the standing school record in the 4x100 in one season.
Ward is married to former men's lacrosse standout Hunter Ward '16.
