On the road in Bristol, R.I. today for a pair of matches against host Roger Williams and visiting Coast Guard, the Fighting Scots fell 3-0 in both matches to move to 10-7 overall on the season.
Taking on Roger Williams in the first match, the Scots were met in the opening set by a dominant Hawks squad, who flew out of the gates to command a 25-7 win and the early-match momentum. Gordon, however, gave their hosts a run for their money in the second, dueling through an exciting back-and-forth set only to be edged in the end, 27-25, and go down 2-0 on the match. Despite concerted effort to close the gap, the Hawks proved too much in the final set, handing Gordon the 25-15 set and 3-0 match loss.
Looking to rebound in their second match versus Coast Guard, the Scots were greeted once again by a formidable opponent in the Bears, who allowed no more than 13 points per set en route to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-9) victory.
The women will look to get back on the winning track as they travel to the University of New England on Tuesday, October 4 for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match at 7:00p.m.
