In a match with cross-town Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Endicott College tonight in Gordon's Bennett Athletic Center, the Fighting Scots were downed in three by the visiting Gulls to move to 12-9 overall on the year.
Finding themselves trailing 10-4 in the early goings of the first set, the Scots looked to be leveling out the play midway through before Endicott utilized a 7-3 run to establish a hefty lead en route to a 25-17 win. Looking to rally in set two, Gordon was once again overtaken by a mid-set Gulls surge, leaving them on the losing end of the 25-19 final and one set away from the sweep loss. Despite earning an early advantage in the third, however, the Gulls proved too strong on the night, using a 17-6 run to cruise to the 25-16 set, 3-0 match victory.
Andrea Amado (Sr./Glastonbury, Conn.) dished 11 assists in the effort for the Scots while Lauren Kranyak (So./Locust Grove, Va.) contributed four kills and six digs.
The women are on the road on Thursday, October 13 to face Emmanuel in a non-conference match set for 7:00p.m. Endicott, now 10-10 overall on the year and a perfect 4-0 in conference, hosts Roger Williams in a CCC duel on Saturday, October 15 at 2:00p.m.
