In a battle of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) unbeatens today, the Fighting Scots ceded a 1-0 loss to the visiting Golden Bears of Western New England in their final regular season match to move to 6-1-2 in conference play on the season.

Despite the Golden Bears owning much of the possession and earning the 9-2 shot advantage in the first, the Scots were able to stave off the Bears' offensive for nearly all of the half until Shawn Fitzpatrick (Sr./Burnt Hills, N.Y.) finished off a pass from Kienan Garn (Sr./Lake Huntington, N.Y.) in the final 15 seconds of the stanza to leave Gordon trailing 1-0 going into the break.

Though the second half was more evenly played, the lone goal of the first half proved in the end to be the game-winner for WNE, as Gordon was unable to find the back of the net on six shots in the half.

With the win Western New England finishes out the season at a perfect 9-0 in the CCC and 15-3-1 overall. As the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, they will play host to the University of New England on Saturday, October 29 at 12:00p.m. The Scots, who captured the No. 2 seed, will host Salve Regina on the same day at 1:00p.m.
