Volleyball Captures 3-1 Homecoming Win Over Salem State

Hosting the Vikings of nearby Salem State University today in their Homecoming match, the Fighting Scots captured a 3-1 non-conference win to improve to 12-8 overall on the year.

Standing on a pair of wins after taking the opening sets 25-14 and 25-18, the Scots had their sights set on perfecting the sweep until Salem rallied in set three to edge out their hosts, 25-23, and force an extra frame. Not to be oudone in front of their home crowd, however, the Scots responded with their most commanding win of the day, downing the Vikings 25-10 in the fourth to stamp the win.

Andrea Amado (Sr./Glastonbury, Conn.) had a banner day for Gordon, dishing out 31 assists and adding six digs and a pair of block assists to the victory, while Lauren Kranyak (So./Locust Grove, Va.) contributed an impressive 11 kills and seven digs and Alex Nawoichik (Jr./Hamilton, Mass.) and Keri Hustus (Jr./Eastford, Conn.) notched eight kills and 10 digs, respectively.

The Scots host cross-town rival Endicott College in a conference matchup on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:00p.m. The Vikings, now 2-11 on the year, travel to Westfield State on the same day for a 7:00p.m. start.
