Scots Stunned In Overtime By Bison, 2-1

Box Score
In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinal grudge match between Gordon and Nichols College today on Gordon's Quad, the Fighting Scots were ousted from the tournament after an overtime goal lifted the Bison to a 2-1 victory.

After several good chances in the early going, Gordon got on the board just 19 minutes into play when Trevor Hinshaw (So./San Jose, Calif.) ripped a goal from 20 yards out off a Kellen Kasiguran (Jr./Oakwood Village, Ohio) corner to give Gordon the early 1-0 advantage. That lead would hold through the remainder of the first and on into the second until Nichols' Scott Coderre (Jr./Thompson, Conn.) bested keeper Spencer Lord (Sr./North Stonington, Conn.) on a solo effort to equalize the game just four minutes into the second stanza.

With both teams controlling possession equally and neither willing to give ground in the remaining minutes, the game stayed deadlocked at 1-1 following 90 minutes of physical regulation play, forcing the game into golden goal extra time.

Despite heavy offensive pressure from the Scots and a narrow miss off the head of forward Andrew Vandervoort (So./Memphis, Tenn.) in the opening minutes, a Scots' hand ball just outside their defensive area gave Nichols a direct with just two minutes to play in the period. Though the initial shot was blocked, the ball on the ensuing scrum was collected by Pat Gaumond (So./Holden, Mass.), who blasted home the game-winner to hand Gordon the one-goal loss.

Lord finished the game with four saves while Nichols' keeper Brendan Hamilton (Sr./North Attleboro, Mass.) also turned away four in the winning effort.

The Scots finish the season at 8-8-3 overall while the Bison, now 12-4-2, advance to the CCC finals on Saturday, November 5.
