After dropping their first loss of the season to Colby on Friday evening, the Fighting Scots looked to get back on the winning track as they faced off against Maine Maritime and UMaine Farmington on day two of the Colby College Invitational.
Despite receiving solid play from outside hitter Lauren Kranyak (So./Locust Grove, Va.), who had nine kills and seven digs in the match, and a late rally in the third game, the Fighting Scots were felled in three straight (16-25, 13-25, 20-25) to move to 5-2 overall on the season.
Determined not to come home without a win, however, the Scots posted impressive numbers in their third match with UMaine Farmington, capturing a resounding 3-0 victory over the Beavers (25-9, 25-14, 25-19) to improve to 6-2 overall. Gordon received standout play from Claudia Amado (Sr./Glastonbury, Conn.) who had 11 kills and 15 digs in the match, while Alex Nawoichik (Jr./Hamilton, Mass.) contributed 12 kills and Kranyak chipped in six kills and 11 digs to three-game sweep.
The Fighting Scots look to add another tally to the win column as they travel to face non-conference Regis College on September 14 at 7:00 p.m.
