Men's Soccer Falls To Bowdoin, 1-4

Box Score
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Senior Nick Powell netted his first career hat trick to lead the Bowdoin College men's soccer team to its first win of the season, a 4-1 non-conference victory over Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon. The Polar Bears stand a 1-1-0 after the win while the Scots drop to 1-2-2.

Powell wasted little time getting the hosts on the board, finishing off a loose ball in front of the net at 3:24 to give the Polar Bears an early 1-0 lead. But the Scots rebounded eight minutes later, deftly moving the ball downfield in transition. Kellen Kasiguran found Archie Reed on the left wing, who tucked the ball inside the right post at 11:14 to knot the game at one a piece.

Bowdoin took control late in the period, as a lengthy offensive possession resulted in a ball lofted into the box. A Gordon defender mis-headed the ball into his own net, giving the Polar Bears a 2-1 lead at 32:49. Powell converted his second of the day less than four minutes before intermission as Macgill Eldredge's throw-in found Powell, who headed it into the cage. Powell finished off his hat trick at 57:25 off a nifty cross from Thomas Henshall to give Bowdoin the 4-1 triumph.

Will Wise made three stops in net for Bowdoin before giving way to Ian McNamara, who stopped one shot in the final four minutes. Alex Sosler collected two saves for the Scots in defeat.
