Field Hockey Claims 2-1 Win Over Framingham State

In a non-conference evening matchup with Framingham State at the Brigham Athletic Complex, the Fighting Scots claimed a 2-1 win over the visiting Rams to improve to 3-6 overall on the season.

After Framingham came out of the gates to carry much of the offensive momentum in the early going, the Fighting Scots weathered the onslaught defensively and turned on their own attack in the 14th minute when when Grace Fabry (Fr./Escondido, Calif.) collected a pass from Samantha Neverett (Sr./Athol, Mass.) and slipped one past the Rams' keeper to take the 1-0 lead.

With both teams dueling for possession for the remainder of the first and well into the second half, it was Framingham's Cali Tetreault (Jr./New Bedford, Mass.) who took advantage of a man-up situation and buried an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute to knot the game at 1-1. That score would not hold for long, however, as a determined Gordon offense led by Melanie Landis (So./Quakertown, Pa.) netted what proved to be the game-winner on an assist from Karli Balmer (Fr./Perkasie, Pa.) to lift the Scots to the one-goal win.

Keeper Anna Bury (So./Huntingtown, Md.) recorded four saves on the night for Gordon, while Sarah Ryan (Jr./Uxbridge, Mass.) turned away seven for the Rams.

The Scots return to action on Thursday, September 22 as they travel to face non-conference Regis College at 7:00p.m. Framingham, now 1-5 overall on the season, travels to Wheelock on the same day for an 8:00p.m. start.
