Scots Rally But Fall To ECSU, 3-1

In a non-conference matchup against visiting Eastern Connecticut State University at Gordon's Bennett Athletic Center, the Fighting Scots were tripped up by their guests, 3-1, despite a mid-match rally to move to 9-5 overall on the season.

After ECSU came out of the gates with authority to claim the first two sets, 15-25, 19-25, Gordon battled back from the early deficit to capture a hard-fought 25-23 win in set three to close the gap, 2-1. Hoping to ride that momentum into the fourth, the Scots instead were met by a determined Warrior squad, which took control of the set to hand the hosts a 25-14 loss en route to the 3-1 victory.

Gordon received standout play from Lauren Kranyak (So./Locust Grove, Va.), who recorded 13 digs and nine kills on the night, while Keri Hustus (Jr./Eastford, Conn.) tallied 21 digs, Andrea Amado (Sr./Glastonbury, Conn.) booked 12 digs and seven assists, Claudia Amado (Sr./Glastonbury, Conn.) added eight digs and seven kills, and Chelsie Clemens (So./Santa Barbara, Calif.) dished 19 assists in the losing effort.

The Scots return to play on Thursday, September 29 as they host Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Curry College at 7:00p.m.
