Box Score
Taking on the Lord Jeffs of Amherst College tonight at the Brigham Athletic Complex in non-conference action, the Fighting Scots surrendered a 4-1 loss to their guests to move to 1-5-3 overall on the season.
With Amherst coming out of the gates to control much of the possession and apply heavy offensive pressure, it took just 12 minutes for them to tally their first of three goals in the half when Brendan Caslin (So./Lincoln, Mass.) finished a Jae Heo (So./Changwon, South Korea) pass for the early 1-0 lead. That goal was followed just three minutes later with their second of the night when Spencer Noon (Jr./Farmington, Conn.) headed home a cross from Chris Lerner (Jr./Canton, Mass.) to extend the Lord Jeffs' lead to 2-0. Despite concerted effort on the defensive end by the Scots, Amherst further widened the gap in the 31st minute when Ben Norton (So./Denver, Colo.) finished a T.J. Kelley (Sr./Walnut Creek, Calif.) cross for the commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break.
Then, in the second stanza, Kelley netted a goal of his own on a direct in the 60th minute to give Amherst a seemingly insurmountable 4-0 lead. Though Gordon's
Kellen Kasiguran (Jr./Oakwood Village, Ohio) would convert a penalty kick for the Scots in the 62nd minute, that would be as close as they would get to a comeback run, eventually ceding the three-goal loss.
Keeper
Ryan Coil (Jr./Brentwood, Tenn.) recorded seven saves between the pipes for Gordon, while Amherst's Brandon Saldana (Jr./Garden City, N.Y.) turned away two en route to the win and preserving the team's undefeated season (6-0).
The Scots return to play on Saturday, October 1 as they travel to face Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game at 3:00p.m., while Amherst will host Tufts on the same day at 2:30p.m.
