Box Score
Luke Hamilton (So./Mount Airy, N.C.) and
David Dempsey (Jr./Wallingford, Conn.) paced the Fighting Scots to an 84-74 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win today over the visiting Lions of Eastern Nazarene, improving the Scots to a perfect 3-0 in conference on the year. Hamilton finished the outing with 26 points and four rebounds while Dempsey posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double.
After a series of lead changes to open the game, the Scots took over for good following a three from Hamilton at 14:13 to make it 11-10. Though Gordon would extend its advantage, ENC kept the game within reach, closing to within one before the Scots would take a five-point lead into the locker room at the half.
The Scots, however, came out firing on all cylinders on offense to start the second, going on a 17-6 run behind 10 points from Hamilton to make it 48-32 after five minutes of play. That lead would hold for roughly 10 minutes until ENC began chipping away at the lead, narrowing the gap to six points with three minutes remaining in regulation. In the end, though, the deficit proved insurmountable for the Lions, as the Scots finished from the stripe in the final two minutes to claim the 10-point victory.
Gordon's
Park Thomas (So./Scottsdale, Ariz.) contributed 11 points and five assists to the win, while
Hans Miersma (Fr./Whitinsville, Mass.) and
Alex Carnes (So./Phoenix, Ariz.) each chipped in 10 points and nine boards. ENC's effort was led by Chima Ezeigbo (Jr./Roanoke, Va.) who posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, DeAngelo Alston (Sr./West Columbia, S.C.) who added 14 points and five steals, and Max Barbosa (Jr./Dorchester, Mass.) who netted 12.
The Scots travel to take on the University of New England in a CCC matchup on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:30p.m., while ENC, now 2-8 overall and 1-2 in conference, travels to Salve Regina on the same day for a 7:00p.m. start.
