Faith Gerdes (Wall Lake, Iowa) and
Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) had seven kills each and
Jessica Burdick (Bewerton, N.Y.) had five as the Scots came back from dropping the opening set with the 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 victory.
The match featured 23 ties and 13 lead changes along with numerous rallies and back-and-forth play but both teams struggled on the attack as both hit for negative percentages on the match.
Joy Kimmel (Madison, Conn.) picked up 21 assists for Gordon, while
Krystal Vander Ark (Santa Barbara, Calif.) had 18 digs, and Kranyak added 17.
Arianna Thomas (Fresno, Calif.) had eight kills and a match-best 22 digs for Mitchell, while Amanda Garcia (New Britain, Conn.) and Kendra Erskine (Bronx, N.Y.) had seven each. Terni added 29 assists.
Gordon finished with key advantages in total kills (36-28), aces (8-7), and assists (34-24) while Mitchell earned the edge in digs (80-79), and total blocks (8-5).

In the nightcap, the Eagles rallied after dropping the opening set to win 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, and 15-8 and take their second five-setter in their last three matches.
Finneran, Crawford and Hill all hit for 10 kills with Finneran tying her career high with nine solo blocks, Crawford racking up six service aces and Hill pulling in 11 digs.
Hayden dished out 30 assists, Temple had eight kills, five aces and 11 digs, and Belli added 17 digs.
Kranyak finished with a match-best 12 kills for Gordon, while Burdick had eight. Kimmel handed out 32 assists, and Keri Hustus (Eastford, Conn.) and Shannon Peterson (West Simsbury, Conn.) had 13 digs each.
DWC hit .182 with 41 kills against Gordon’s .058 and 39 kills but had a sizable advantage in aces (16-6) and blocks (9-3).
The fifth set saw three ties and only one lead change. DWC trailed 3-0 early but rallied with four straight for the lead. Tied at five, a Temple kill put DWC up for good sparking a key 4-1 run and Temple later added distance with three aces including three of the final four points to close it out.
The Scots host Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
