Scots Roll To 80-57 Win Over Wentworth On Senior Night

Box Score
Hosting the Leopards of Wentworth Institute in their final home contest of the regular season, the Fighting Scots celebrated their Senior Night in style, rolling to an 80-57 win over their guests to improve to 9-15 overall, 8-9 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action this season. The Leopards, ranked second in the CCC, move to 15-8 overall, 11-6 in conference.

Holding a slight 13-12 advantage at the 14:45 mark, the Scots exploded offensively for an uncontested 16 points, eight of which came from Park Thomas (So./Scottsdale, Ariz.), to make it a 29-12 ballgame with eight and a half to play in the first. They would push that lead even further to 20 points with just under four minutes to go, and despite allowing the Leopards to recover some ground, the Scots went into the locker room maintaining a 37-25 lead.

The second half proved to be a similar story for the Scots, who used sharpshooting on the offensive end and buckled down defensively to never allow their guests any closer than 12 points the rest of the way. Their largest lead of the contest came at 13:50 after a three-pointer from Luke Hamilton (So./Mount Airy, N.C.) widened the gap to 23 points.

The Scots shot an impressive 59 percent from the floor on the night en route to the 23-point win. Leading the charge was Thomas with 18 points, seven assists, three steals and only two turnovers, while Garret Harden (Sr./Whitinsville, Mass.) recorded 12 points and David Dempsey (Jr./Wallingford, Conn.) chipped in 11.

For Wentworth, Corey Therriault (Jr./Auburn, Maine) led the effort with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Adam Dombrowski (Sr./Dunstable, Mass.) netted 12 and John-Michael Fragnoli (Fr./Scotia, N.Y.) added eight points, five boards.

The Scots look to close out the regular season with a win as they travel to face the Bison of Nichols College on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00p.m. Wentworth will host the University of Southern Maine on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
