With the win the Shoreman extend their winning streak to five games, improving to 6-1 overall.

After a 1-2-3 outing in the top of the first, the Scots found themselves down 5-0 at the end of the inning after Washington's Tyler Cotterell (Jr./Lincroft, N.J.) posted a two-run single, Ian Remington (So./Guilford, Conn.) Laurel, N.J.) singled to plate one run and Cotterell sac flied to center in the second, and Jon Mahaffery (So./Sykesville, Md.) crossed home in the third to make it an 8-0 game.

Though the Scots were able to break their silence in the top of the sixth when Brian Harrington (Jr./Shoreham, N.Y.) RBI singled to left to bring home Ben Davidson (Jr./Sterling, Mass.), that proved as close as they would get to the comeback as the Shoreman added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh before the game was called on account of rain.

The Scots return to the field on Monday, March 12 at 9:00a.m. to take on non-conference McDaniel.

GORDON vs. MCDANIEL- March 12, 2012
Box Score

Looking to rebound from yesterday's loss to Washington and pick up their first win of the young season, the Fighting Scots were once again bested on day two of the RussMatt Invitational, as non-conference McDaniel posted an 11-8 win to move the Scots to 0-3 overall on the year.

With the Scots having gone scoreless through their first two innings at the plate, McDaniel struck first in the bottom of the second when Marshall Betts (So./Berlin, Md.) ripped a lead off solo shot over the fence and Chris Longo (Sr./Monroe, N.Y.) crossed home on a Gordon error to make it 2-0. McDaniel then extended that lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third after James Chiorello (So./East Windsor, N.J.) RBI singled and Betts doubled to drive in two.

Facing a large deficit, the Scots battled back in the top of the fourth behind an RBI double for James Burrell (Fr./Decatur, Ga.), a Dillon Coleman (Jr./Cromwell, Conn.) RBI single, a Jacob Syed (Fr./Niskayuna, N.Y.) RBI single, a Ben Davidson (Jr./Sterling, Mass.) two-RBI single, and an Erik Wolak (Sr./Trumbull, Conn.) RBI single to give Gordon the 6-5 advantage.

That advantage was short-lived, however, as the Green and Gold struck again for a single tally in the fifth, three runs in the seventh, and another single run in the eighth to leave Gordon trailing 10-6 going into to the final inning. And although the Scots were able to inch closer after Brian Harrington (Jr./Shoreham, N.Y.) ripped a double to drive in two runs in the top of the ninth, that was as close as they would come as McDaniel's Mike Freeman (Sr./Lititz, Pa.) closed out the game from the mound to hand Gordon the three-run loss.

The Scots will face Daniel Webster in a double-header tomorrow at 10:00a.m.

GORDON vs. DANIEL WEBSTER (DH)- March 13, 2012
Box Score (game one)
Box Score (game two)

Taking on the Eagles of Daniel Webster on day three of the RussMatt Invitational, the Fighting Scots dropped both games of the non-conference double-header to move to 0-5 overall on the year.

Daniel Webster claimed the early momentum in game one, recording a pair of runs on a Gordon error and a Kyle Brigham (Fr./Hudson, N.H.) RBI double and blanking the Scots at the plate to establish a 2-0 lead after one. That lead was extended to 4-0 in the second inning behind a Darrick Marstaller (Jr./Spofford, N.H.) RBI and a passed ball and 6-0 in the third after a wild pitch and a Ryan Dupont (Fr./Merrimack, N.H.) RBI single. The Scots broke onto the board themselves in the bottom of the fourth, as James Burrell (Fr./Decatur, Ga.) RBI singled to bring around Erik Wolak (Sr./Trumbull, Conn.) to make it 6-1. From there, however, the game belonged to the Eagles, who scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth, and one in the final frame to establish an insurmountable 10-1 lead over the Scots.

Brian Harrington (Jr./Shoreham, N.Y.) finished the day with three hits, Pichardo, Burell, and Wolak tallied two each, and Jacob Syed (Fr./Niskayuna, N.Y.), G. Brown, and Kris Camelio (Sr./Lexington, Mass.) all recorded one apiece. Pichardo and Burrell rounded out the games with two RBI each, while G. Brown had one.

GORDON vs. LESLEY- March 15, 2012
Box Score

The Fighting Scots notched their first win of the 2012 season today, completing a come-from-behind effort to overtake Lesley, 12-11, in RussMatt Invitational play.

Lesley jump-started the scoring on the day with a trio of runs in the top of the first, one of which was credited to John Gosnell (Fr./Toronto, Ontario) on an RBI single and two of which belonged to Ryan Genua (So./Prospect, Conn.) on a two-RBI single. The Lynx then went on to extend their lead to a staggering 10-0 with four runs in the third and three more in the fourth before the Scots were able to plate two runs of their own on a Geoff Brown (Jr./East Moriches, N.Y.) two-RBI single. Answering right back, Lesley's Tyler Plourd (So./Canton, Conn.) singled to drive in Robert Parson (Fr./Commack, N.Y.) in the fifth to up their lead to 11-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, however, the Scots began mounting their comeback as Dillon Coleman (Jr./Cromwell, Conn.) doubled to drive in Jacob Syed (Fr./Niskayuna, N.Y.) for an RBI and Erik Wolak (Sr./Trumbull, Conn.) singled to bring home Coleman, closing the gap to 11-4. Coleman and Wolak continued their success at the plate in the sixth, as Coleman tripled for two RBI and a Wolak homered for another two to make it just a three-run game heading down the stretch. After a single tally in the seventh by the Scots' Stephen Crawford (So./Haddon Heights, N.J.), Gordon overtook the lead when Coleman RBI singled, Wolak sac flied to center to score Syed, and Brian Harrington (Jr./Shoreham, N.Y.) RBI doubled to lift the Scots to the season's first win.

Coleman finished the day with three hits in five at bats and four RBI, while Wolak also recorded four RBI going 2-for-4. Harrington earned the win from the mound for Gordon, giving up just one hit and striking out three in 2.2 innings of work.

The Scots look to make it two in a row as they close out their RussMatt schedule with a double-header against MCLA tomorrow beginning at 3:00p.m.
GORDON vs. MCLA- March 16, 2012

Hoping to carry the offensive momentum from yesterday's impressive comeback win over Lesley into today's double-header with MCLA, the Fighting Scots posted a strong effort at the plate but in the end were edged by the Trailblazers 10-9 in game one and 8-5 in game two to move to 1-7 overall on the year.

In game one, the Trailblazers established the early lead with seven runs in the second inning, but the Scots were able to answer right back with four runs in the top of the third and two more in the fourth to make it a 7-6 ballgame. After MCLA plated three in the fourth to extend their lead to 10-6, the Scots inched closer behind a Jacob Syed (Fr./Niskayuna, N.Y.) sac fly to left in the fifth and a two-run homer by Carlos Pichardo (Fr./La Romana, Dominican Republic) in the sixth to bring the game to within one. In the end, however, MCLA utilized sharp pitching in the final frame to secure the one-run victory.

Gordon looked to be in good shape at the outset of game two when Erik Wolak (Sr./Trumbull, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on an error which scored Ben Davidson (Jr./Sterling, Mass.) and Wolak later scored on an error at first to give the Scots to early 2-0 lead. MCLA responded in the top of the second to overtake the lead with four runs and extended it further with another trio in the top of the third to make it 7-2. Though the Scots' Pichardo picked up an RBI in the fourth and Wolak and Syed scored on a balk and a Kris Camelio (Sr./Lexington, Mass.) RBI, respectively, in the sixth, the Trailblazers had plated one for insurance in the top of the sixth and pitched a 1-2-3 final inning to hand the Scots the 8-5 loss.
