Box Score
Box Score
On the road in Whittier, Calif. to face the Poets of Whittier College in a non-conference tilt, the Fighting Scots were outmatched by their hosts, 15-2, to move to 1-3 overall on the season. With the win Whittier improves to 3-0 overall.

After Gordon's Dan Perednia (Sr./Granby, Conn.) netted the game's opening goal on a solo effort at 9:36 in the first quarter, the offensive momentum from there swung towards the Poets, who scored eight unanswered goals in the remaining minutes of the half to hold a hefty seven-goal lead at the break.

Despite Gordon's defense keeping the Whittier attack at bay in the opening minutes of the second half, Kevin Looney (So./Manhattan Beach, Calif.) got the scoring started again for the Poets, burying a feed from Daniel McQuade (Sr./New Westminister, B.C.) at 11:08 before McQuade netted one of his own two minutes later to extend their lead to 10-1. Just 20 seconds after McQuade's goal, though, Perednia put a stop to Whittier's run with his second of the day on a Wes Chittick assist (Sr./Glenside, Pa.) to close the gap to eight goals.

That proved to be the last tally of the outing for the Scots, however, as Whittier went on to net five insurance goals to secure the 13-goal victory.

McQuade ended the day with three goals and three assists, while teammate Hunter Hall (So./Littleton, Colo.) recorded five goals and one assist and Looney finished with three goals and one assist. Keeper Robert Bazlen (Sr./Phoenix, Ariz.) earned the win in the cage for the Poets, turning away eight of the Scots' attempts.

Keeper Houston Zemanski (Jr./Annapolis, Md.) faced 20 shots and turned away eight in Gordon's effort, while Brian Lane (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.) posted two saves in roughly 13 minutes of action.

The Scots return to the field on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00p.m. as they travel to crosstown rival Endicott College for their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup of the season.
