Scots Roll To 21-7 Win Over NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. – Gordon College women’s lacrosse senior Jordan Alexander (Portland, Maine) would finish the game with four goals and six assists leading the Scots past the New England College Pilgrims 21-7 Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Scots remain undefeated on the season with an overall record of 5-0, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-3 overall.

Gordon College would jump out to an early lead scoring the first seven goals of the game to lead 7-0 just 10 minutes into play. NEC would get on the board as Emily Bamberger (Brimfield, Mass.) would net her second goal of the season on a free-position shot at the 16 minute mark. The two teams would exchange goals before the Scots would close out the half on a 7-1 run to head into halftime up 15-3.

The Gordon offense would continue to put on the pressure in the second half of play out scoring NEC 6-2 in the early minutes. The Pilgrims would muster three goals late, including two by Bamberger, but the Scots would eventually cruise to the 21-7 victory.

In addition to Alexander, the Scots were led by Jocie Knaus (Kensington, Conn.) who put in four goals and dished four assists, Anna Blomberg (Simsbury, Mass.) who netted four goals and handed out one assist, and Stephanie Fitzgerald (Groveland, Mass.) who collected a season-high 12 draw controls. The Scots received goals from 10 different scorers on the day and assisted 18 of their 21 tallies.

NEC was led by Bamberger and senior Amanda Naimie (York, Maine) who each finished with three goals.

Picking up the win in goal for Gordon College was Danielle Maguire (Braintree, Mass.) who finished with 15 saves. In net for NEC was Rebecca Harvey (Natick, Mass.) who stopped 11 Gordon shots.
