Scots Collect First Win Of Season, 6-3 Over Colby-Sawyer


On the road in New London, N.H. today, the Fighting Scots notched their first tally in the win column of the 2012 season with a 6-3 victory over non-conference host Colby-Sawyer College.

Capturing the early momentum in the match were Gary Gaudio (Sr./Miller Place, N.Y.) and Kenny Gaudio (So./Miller Place, N.Y.) who battled to an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 team of Dan Cormier (Sr./Ipswich, Mass.) and Sam Mason (Fr./Cumberland, Maine) cruised to an 8-1 win to send the Scots into singles play with the 2-1 advantage.

Both Gaudios then went on to pick up wins at No. 1 and No. 2, with Gary topping the Chargers' Jamie Thormann 6-2, 6-3 and Kenny besting Justin Pinard 6-2, 7-5. Cormier and Mason also continued their winning ways in singles play, sealing the victory at Nos. 3 and 4 with 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3, 7-5 wins, respectively.

The Scots return to the court on Saturday, March 24 as they face Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston at 12:00p.m.
