Fighting Scots Bested By WNE Golden Bears, 6-3

Match Results

In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match hosted by the Golden Bears of Western New England today, the Fighting Scots were bested, 6-3, by their host to fall to 1-13 overall on the year.

With two matches remaining in the regular season, the Golden Bears are 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Gordon senior Gary Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and his brother, sophomore Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.), held on for a 9-8 (7-4) win at the top doubles position for Gordon's first win of the day. K. Gaudio also took a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles while senior Mike Muthersbaugh (Troy, N.Y.) had a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.

Those proved to be the Scots' only wins of the day, however, as WNE senior Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) captured his No. 3 singles match with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory. He and freshman John Mindek (Willington, Conn.) also took an 8-3 decision at No. 2 doubles. Additionally, WNE junior Chris Holzinger (Foster, R.I.) had an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while freshman Greg Tischofer (Portland, CT) compiled a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 verdict at No. 4 singles and sophomore Tyler Unwin (Pittsfield, Vt.) was a 7-5, 6-2 winner No. 6 singles.

Also earning a win in doubles play were senior JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, Conn.) and freshman Peter Nassar (Longmeadow, Mass.), who posted an 8-0 at the third flight.
