Box Score Box Score

Celebrating Senior Day today in the final game of the regular season, the Fighting Scots rolled to a 16-7 win over visiting Maine Maritime Academy to even their overall record on the year at 7-7. The Mariners fall to 4-8 with the loss.

The Scots took control of the game with authority in the opening quarter, netting four unanswered goals from Ian Knechtle (So./New Canaan, Conn.), Dan Perednia (Sr./Granby, Conn.), Adam Quinn (Sr./Gloucester, Mass.), and Wes Chittick (Sr./Glenside, Pa.) to establish a healthy early lead. The Mariners' Nicholas Betti (Fr./Upper Saddle River, N.J.) put a stop to that run with his first of five goals on the day at 13:08 in the second, taking advantage of a man-up situation to close the gap to 4-1. Gordon answered back with a vengeance, though, going on a 5-1 run to close out the half and carry a 9-2 lead into the break.

That momentum carried into the second half for Gordon as Quinn netted two and Mio Sison (Fr./Warren, Mich.) and Jeff Ryan (Sr./Gillette, N.J.) buried one apiece to open the third and stretch the lead to a commanding 13-2 with 8:00 to play in the frame. And though Maine Maritime would outscore the Scots the rest of the way 5-3 including a 3-0 run to end the game, the deficit proved too large to overcome as the Scots cruised to the win.

Chittick and Quinn paced the victory with two goals, five assists and five goals, one assist, respectively, while Perednia netted four, Sison finished with two goals, two assists, Matt Dantona (Fr./Syosset, N.Y.) contributed one goal, one assist, and Ryan and Knechtle rounded out the scoring with one each. Houston Zemanski (Jr./Annapolis, Md.) earned the win in the cage for Gordon with four saves, while Brian Lane (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.) and David Spencer (So./Middletown, N.Y.) split the second half and combined for four saves.

Betti led the Mariners' effort with his five goals, while Alex Hermes (Jr./Fallsington, Pa.) contributed two goals and an assist and Bronson Guimond (Fr./Portland, Maine) dished one assist. Keeper Erik Milles (Sr./Bangor, Maine) is credited with the loss after allowing nine goals and stopping seven in one half of work.

Having closed out the regular season, the Scots await decisions from the remaining conference contests to determine their seed for the upcoming postseason tournament. The Mariners travel to UMaine Farmington on Wednesday, April 25 for their final regular season matchup.
