Scots Down Regis In Non-CCC Matchup, 3-1

The Fighting Scots improved to 5-3 overall on the season tonight with a 3-1 non-conference win over the visiting Pride of Regis College. The loss marks the fourth in a row for the Pride, who drop to 2-8 overall.

Gordon started the night with a commanding 25-10 win in the opening set behind Joy Kimmel's (So./Madison, Conn.) 10 assists and three kills each from Faith Gerdes (So./Wall Lake, Iowa) and Lauren Kranyak (Jr./Locust Grove, Va.). Despite more standout play from Kimmel, Kranyak, and Chelsie Clemens (Jr./Santa Barbara, Calif.) in the second set, Regis answered back to level the match at 1-1 with a 25-20 win.

From there, however, the night belonged to the Scots, who took 25-22 and 25-17 wins in the closing sets to stamp the two-set victory.

Kimmel finished the night with 36 assists, while Gerdes recorded 11 kills and two solo blocks, Kranyak eight kills, and Clemens seven kills to lead the way for Gordon.

The Scots return to the court on Saturday, Sept. 15 as they travel to Salve Regina for their first conference match of the season at 1:00p.m. Regis has a quick turn around as they take on Bridgewater State at home tomorrow beginning at 7:00p.m.
