Scots Complete Home Sweep Of Becker, 3-0

The Fighting Scots improved to 3-1 overall on the young season with a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Hawks of non-conference Becker College tonight in Gordon's Bennett Athletic Center.

In the opening game, captain Keri Hustus (Sr./Eastford, Conn.) served up four aces while Lauren Kranyak (Jr./Locust Grove, Va.) posted four kills and Shannon Peterson (So./West Simsbury, Conn.) contributed three digs to help lift the Scots to a 25-16 win.

That proved to be the closest game of the evening, as Gordon went on to claim commanding 25-14 and 25-15 wins in the following two sets to ice the match. 

On the night, Kranyak tallied a total of 10 kills, Hustus eight aces and as many digs, while Peterson also finished with eight digs. Additionally, Hannah Swor (Fr./Pearland, Texas) recorded a match-high 20 assists to go with six kills and two block assists and Joy Kimmel (So./Madison, Conn.) added eights assists and three aces.

Becker's effort was led by Theresa Boulier (Sr./Eddington, Maine) with six blocks and two kills, while teammate Jacqueline Chila (Jr./Monroe, Conn.) chipped in four kills, three blocks, and three aces on the night.

The Scots return to the court at the Colby Invitational beginning on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:00p.m. Becker, now 0-4 on the season, will take on UMaine Machias on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1:00p.m.
