Scots Fall 2-1 To Anderson In Opening Round Of Fred Myers-Adidas Invitational

Box Score
On the road in Delaware, Ohio this weekend for the Fred Myers-adidas Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan, the Fighting Scots fell in the opening game to Anderson, 2-1, to move to 1-1-1 overall on the season. With the win the Anderson Ravens even their overall record at 2-2 on the year.

The Ravens got on the board first in the 23rd minute when Brad Rusche (Jr./New Palestine, Ind.) played a slot pass ahead to teammate Todd Canal (So./Indianapolis, Ind.) who bested Gordon's Ryan Coil (Sr./Brentwood, Tenn.) in a 1v1 on the right side of the box for the 1-0 lead.

Despite a 12-5 shot advantage for the Scots in the opening stanza, that score held throughout the remainder of the first and into the second until Luke Partain (Sr./Wheaton, Ill.) collected the ball on the outside left of the box in the 53rd minute and ripped a 20-yard shot past Anderson netminder Chris Maloney (So./Avon, Ind.) to even the game at 1-1.

Then, in the waning minutes as overtime threatened, it was Anderson's Brody Reinholt (So./Warsaw, Ind.) who tallied what proved to be the game-winner on a shot to the upper right from just outside the box in the 80th minute to lift the Ravens to the win.

Coil recorded two saves in net in the losing effort, while Maloney turned away seven for the win.

The Scots take to the pitch again tomorrow night as they face tournament host Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30p.m.
