In their season-opener against non-conference Juniata College (Huntingdon, Md.) on March 10, the Fighting Scots were downed by the now 3-0 Eagles, 6-3, who claimed five of six singles matches to capture the victory on the day.
Rookie
Zach Hall (Fr./Sugarland, Texas) had a standout first day on the courts for Gordon, teaming with
Kenny Gaudio (Jr./Miller Place, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 win over Juniata's Elliot Perow (Jr./Huntingdon, Pa.) and Tucker Good (Sr./Gettysburg, Va.) before going on to take down Perow at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-4) later in the day.
The Scots looked in good shape at the outset behind Hall and Gaudio's win and another win at No. 2 doubles from
Brandon Inkles (Sr./New York, N.Y.) and
Richie Armand (Fr./Hempstead, N.Y.), who dueled with Justin Wisniewski (Jr./Moorestown, N.J.) and Brice Morey (Sr./Enola, Pa.) to come out on top, 8-6, and give Gordon the 2-1 edge heading into singles play.
From there, however, despite Hall's win at No. 1 and a hard-fought match at No. 6 from
Mike Olszak (So./Danvers, Mass.), the Eagles soared to five singles victories to secure their third win of the young season.
The Scots will return to the court on March 11 for a non-conference matchup with Greenville College (Greenville, Ill.) at 2:30p.m.
