Falcons Too Much For Scots In Men's Tennis Dual Match, 6-3

Just hours after earning a win over FDU-Florham this morning in a match that was suspended last night due to lack of light, the Fighting Scots fell 6-3 at the hands of non-conference Messiah College to move to 1-4 overall on the season. The Falcons improve to 3-4 with the victory.

Zach Hall (Fr./Sugarland, Texas) and Kenny Gaudio (Jr./Miller Place, N.Y.) were the Scots' standouts in the match, joining forces at No. 1 doubles to record an 8-6 decision over Messiah's Michael Brookhart (So./Lancaster, Pa.) and Luke Hostetter (Sr./Goshen, Ind.).

Hall then went on to claim a straight-set (6-3, 6-3) victory over Brookhart in individual play at No. 1, while Gaudio, tied at 1-1 with Hostetter after a 6-4 win in the first set and 3-6 loss in the second at No. 2, dominated the super tie-breaker in the final frame, 10-2, for the overall win.

The remainder of the match belonged to the Falcons, however, who won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and 8-1 at No. 3 before cruising through the final four singles contests, never allowing more than two games per set in each of those matchups to leave the Scots on the short end of the 6-3 final.

Gordon will wrap up its spring training in South Carolina tomorrow with a head-to-head against Heidelberg at 1 p.m. The Falcons also rounds out their trip tomorrow, taking on FDU- Florham in a non-conference duel at 8 a.m.
