The Fighting Scots got their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) campaign off to a good start today, taking a 3-1 win off the visiting Colonels of Curry College to improve to 10-4 overall, 1-0 in conference on the year. Game two of the series was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Scots wasted little time getting on the board as
Eric Rinaldi (Fr./Torrington, Conn.) scored in the bottom of the first on an error at short and
Ben Davidson (Sr./Sterling, Mass.) sac flied to center to plate
Brian Harrington (Sr./Shoreham, N.Y.) for the early 2-0 lead.
Curry's Sam Barron (Sr./Hadley, Mass.) then responded in the top of the next frame with a solo shot to inch the Colonels back to within one.
Following a scoreless third,
Geoff Brown (Sr./East Moriches, N.Y.) RBI singled to bring in
Alex German (So./Brimfield, Ill.) to give the Scots all the offense they would need to secure their first conference win.
Davidson earned the win on the hill, allowing just three hits and one run in five innings of work, while Harrington booked his fourth save of the season.
Travis Levesque (So./Middleboro, Mass.) is credited with the loss for the Colonels, who drop to 4-5-2 overall, 2-1 in the CCC.
