– The Roger Williams University Men’s Tennis team improved to 7-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 9-0 win over Gordon College Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks began the day with a sweep at doubles, with Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) and Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) defeating
Daniel Dufoe (Malvern, Pa.) and
Mike Olszak (Danvers, Mass.) 8-1 at No. 3. Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) and Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) followed with an 8-4 victory at No. 2 against
Richie Armand (Hempstead, N.Y.) and
Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.). Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) and Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) finished things off with an 8-6 victory at No. 1 against
Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and
Zach Hall (Sugarland, Texas.).
At singles, Kyle Bull won his sixth straight match, defeating Olszak 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, while Laboissonniere won his fifth straight with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Armand at No. 3. Jonathan Chandler (East Falmouth, Mass.) moved over the .500 mark at singles this season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Jordan Frank (Burlington, Mass.) at No. 6.
Roger Williams (10-6, 7-0 CCC) wraps up the regular season Wednesday at Wentworth Institute of Technology, while Gordon (4-13, 1-6 CCC) goes to Salem State on Monday.
