DUDLEY, Mass. – The Fighting Scots closed out their 2013 campaign tonight on a high note, edging the host Bison of Nichols College, 13-12, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) duel at Nichols' Vendetti Field.

Mio Sison (Warren, Mich.) scored two of his four goals in the fourth quarter to propel the Fighting Scots to their third win of the season, giving them a mark of 3-12 (2-6 CCC) for 2013. Sophomore
Jordan Heckelmann (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman
Roger Evans (Oxford, Pa.) added three goals each while sophomore
Matt Dantona (Syosset, N.Y.) dished out four assists.
Junior Zac Smith (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Chris Litchfield (Burlington, Mass.) each scored three goals in Nichols' loss.
Junior Brian Girard (Norwood, Mass.) added two goals for the Bison, who finished the 2013 season with a mark of 4-11 (1-7 CCC). Senior Macaulay Gillis (Northborough, Mass.) – who was one of 11 seniors honored prior to the contest – tallied a goal and an assist to finish his career with 135 points (66-69-135).
Trailing 11-9 following Smith’s fifth goal of the season 3:41 into the fourth, the Fighting Scots reeled off four-straight goals to move in front 13-11. Heckelmann’s 13
th of the season brought the visitors to within one at 8:10, and Dantona’s sixth marker of 2013 less than a minute later tied the game at 11.
Back-to-back goals by Sison at 6:31 and 5:20, respectively, gave Gordon a two-goal lead for the first time since it led 2-0 back in the first quarter. Litchfield’s 27
th goal with 41 ticks remaining brought Nichols to within one, and the Bison had one final shot to tie the game, but sophomore Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) saw his scoring attempt turned aside by senior goalkeeper
Houston Zemanski (Annapolis, Md.). He finished the night with 12 saves.
Gordon held a 53-40 edge in shots and won 17-of-29 face-offs. Nichols was hurt by 25 turnovers – including 14 in the second half. Freshman Seth Drouin (Madison, Conn.) recorded 18 saves as he finished his first season in Dudley with a record of 3-10. Senior Marc Miller (Trumbull, Conn.) led all Nichols student-athletes with eight ground balls to go along with a goal while senior Chris Barchard (Dracut, Mass.) caused three turnovers. Freshman
Peter Kovacevic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) collected a game-high nine ground balls for Gordon.
