Scots Fall To Southern Maine In Season Finale, 6-3

Match Results
Hosting Southern Maine in their final season match, the Fighting Scots conceded a 6-3 decision to the guest Huskies to close out their 2013 campaign at 6-14 overall. USM improves to 9-5 with the win.

The Huskies jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play behind an 8-6 win from Adam Whitman (Jr./New Castle, N.H.) and Corey Dyke (Jr./Monmouth, Maine) over Gordon's Zach Hall (Fr./Sugarland, Maine) and Kenny Gaudio (Jr./Miller Place, N.Y.) at No. 1 and an 8-5 win at No. 3 by Sebastien Taylor (Fr./Auburn, Maine) and John Sproul (Sr./Bristol, Maine) over Joe Daugherty (Fr./Norfolk, Va.) and Mike Olszak (So./Danvers, Mass.).

The Scots' Brandon Inkles (Sr./New York, N.Y.) and Richie Armand (Fr./Hempstead, N.Y.) picked up the lone win in paired play at No. 2, claiming an 8-6 result over Chris Ross (Jr./Somerset, Mass.) and Thaddeus St. John (So./Weld, Maine).

Despite a win at No. 1 by Hall over Whitman (6-0, 6-1) and another victory by Gaudio over St. John at No. 2 (7-6 (7-1), 6-1), that was as close as the Scots would get to the comeback as USM wrapped up Nos. 4, 5, and 6 in straight sets and Ross recorded a tough three-set win over Inkles at No. 3 to secure the overall victory.

The Huskies have one match remaining on their regular season agenda as they travel to Rhode Island College tomorrow for a 1 p.m. start.
