Box Score
In non-conference baseball action today, the visiting Cougars of Clark University handed the Fighting Scots their seventh straight defeat with a 5-3 decision in a nine-inning matchup at Gordon's J. Tec White Field.
The loss drops the Scots below .500 to 16-17 overall while the victory lifts Clark to 12-22.
The Scots took an early lead as
Anon Rowland (Sr./Port Republic, N.J.) scored on a wild pitch midway through the bottom half of the first frame for the 1-0 lead. After
John Kanas (Sr./East Moriches, N.Y.) retired three straight from the mound in the top of the second, the Scots'
Stephen Crawford (Sr./Haddon Heights, N.J.) doubled to open the bottom of the inning, later came home off an RBI triple from
Geoff Brown (Sr./East Moriches, N.Y.), and Brown crossed home himself on a wild pitch to extend Gordon's lead to 3-0.
That score held until the top of the seventh when the Cougars' Zach Richall (Fr./Tyngsboro, Mass.) singled to plate James Conway (Fr./Newburyport, Mass.) from second to make it a two-run ballgame.
With the Scots just one inning away from victory, Clark got the bats going in the top of the final frame as Daniel Lima (So./Manchester, Conn.) two-RBI singled to knot the game at 3-3 and Andrew Doolittle (Jr./Hebron, Conn.) ripped the go-ahead single to score Lima and Nick O'Brien (Fr./Potomac, Md.) and give the Cougars all they would need for the win.
The Scots travel to face Western New England in a conference twinbill tomorrow beginning at 12 p.m.
