Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men’s tennis team notched a 6-3 victory against Gordon in a non-conference contest at the Brown University courts on Monday afternoon.
Johnson & Wales took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, including a 9-8 win at second doubles for freshman Jason Chavenson (Upper Dublin, Pa.) and sophomore Jake McGuire (Great Mills, Md.). Chavenson also had a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while McGuire tallied a 6-1, 6-3 victory at sixth singles for the Wildcats. Freshman Adam Beady (Weymouth, Mass.) also had a pair of wins on the day for JWU, posting an 8-4 win at third doubles with fellow rookie Tristan Edovas (Mystic, Conn.) before finishing the day with a 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 win at fourth singles.

Zach Hall (Sugarland, Texas) who posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with sophomore
Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) for a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles. Gaudio also picked up a 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 win at No. 2 singles for the Fighting Scots.
With the win JWU improves to 5-2 while Gordon falls to 3-9 on the year. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, April 13 when they travel to Suffolk for a GNAC contest. The Scots look to get back on track as they host Eastern Nazarene in a conference duel on April 10 at 3:30 p.m.
