Quick Start Leads Scots to 4-0 Win over Framingham State

Box Score
WENHAM, Mass. – Only 10 seconds passed after the opening whistle before the Gordon Men's Soccer team took a 1-0 over visiting Framingham State. Andrew Vandervoort capitalized on a breakdown of communication between defenders to score the Fighting Scots' first goal of the season. Gordon would add a string of three more goals in the half and defeat the Rams 4-0 in front of a raucous Brigham crowd.

Vandervoort entered the 2013 season as the two-time leading scorer for the Scots and he showed why very early in the contest. He took a quick touch after a turnover and launched a shot over Framingham's William Levitsky from 25 yards out.

The goal was an early reminder about the potency of the high-speed pace of play Coach Derek Potteiger has installed during his first season of the team.

Gordon would get on the board again in the 38th minute when Kellen Kasiguran powered a corner kick into the fray in front of the net. The ball took a good hop for the Scots and into the back of the net for goal number two.

Kasiguran scored his first goal in nearly two years after spending the entire 2012 season rehabbing from an injury.

In the next five minutes the Fighting Scots would add two more goals from a pair of freshmen, Colten Corey and Daniel Perez. Corey won the crowd over with an acrobatic scissor-kick strike into the upper-right corner of the goal off of a beautiful cross from fellow freshman Gaines Minton.

Perez capitalized on another gaffe by the Rams' defense and lofted a ball over the head of Levitsky as the Rams' keeper tried to get back to his post. The unassisted goal was the first of Perez's young career.

Levitsky made six saves in goal for Framingham State in the loss. Francisco Anzoategui started the second half between the pipes for the Rams and added three saves of his own.

Tim Hardy made three saves for Gordon to preserve the shutout.

The Fighting Scots travel to Bangor, Maine next Saturday for a non-conference matchup with Husson University. Husson lost both of their matchups this weekend to highly-touted opponents Wheaton (Mass.) and Babson.
