Nor'easters Sneak Past Scots in CCC Opener

Box Score
WENHAM, Mass. – The visiting Nor'easters of the University of New England used a goal early in the second half to send Gordon to their second loss of the year. Hannah Tavella found herself wide open in the crease with possession of a deflected puck and ripped a shot past the glove of Anna Bury for the only score of the game.

The Nor'easters (2-3) came out of the opening whistle with an attacking offensive gameplan. UNE sent three shots in the direction of Bury (Huntingtown, Md.) early in the first half and kept the Scots' defense on its toes.

Bury made seven saves in the first half to keep the game at a scoreless tie and finished with 10 on the afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, the persistence of the Nor'easters' offense finally paid off, four minutes into the second period. Tavella, collected a failed clear attempt by the Scots and buried into Gordon's defensive goal box.

UNE outshot the Scots 15-2 and dominated the time of possession in the second half.

Gordon (4-2) is back on the turf Saturday when they take on CCC opponent, Roger Williams, at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
