Crocker's Two Goals Lift Scots Past Eagles

Box Score
BANGOR, Maine – The Fighting Scots Men's Soccer team found the net four times for the second game in a row as they defeated Husson University 4-1 on the road. Gordon overcame an early 1-0 deficit by scoring four unanswered goals in the slanted victory over the Eagles.

The Eagles struck first with an early goal from Stephen Berenyi (Levant, ME), his second of the 2013 campaign, to put Husson up 1-0 in the fourth minute of play.

The Fighting Scots knotted the game at one only five minutes later off the foot of Evan Crocker (Akron, Ohio)—an unassisted score. Freshman Caleb Cole (Coatesville, Pa.) gave the Scots a 2-1 lead in the 32nd minute with the assist from Andy Guthrie (Beaver Falls, Pa.). Guthrie carried the ball up the right side and placed a perfect cross into the box that connected with the foot of Cole.

Gordon College added two more goals after the halftime break. Crocker registered his second goal of the contest in the 47th minute with Aaron Terjanian (West Chester, Pa.) coming up with the assist.

Kellen Kasiguran (Oakwood Village, Ohio) made a beautiful pass up the seam in the middle of the field to find a streaking Torrey Stricklin (Warwick, R.I.) breaking through the heart of the defense. Stricklin took a few touches around the Eagles' keeper and drilled a ball into the back of the net for the last score of the evening.

Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) got the start for the Eagles in net, allowing three goals while saving five attempts. Steven Paquette (Ferrisburgh, VT) played in the final 29:27 of regulation, allowing one goal with two saves. Potter sees his record fall to 0-3 on the season.

Tim Hardy saw his record improve to 2-0 with the Scots win, allowing one goal and adding one save on the night.

Gordon scored at least four goals in a game in back-to-back contests for the first time since the 2005 season, when they scored four goals against Curry and Salem State in a three day span. The Fighting Scots only scored four goals or more in a game twice last season.

Gordon (2-0) will play tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM at Boucher Field in Bangor, Maine against Maine Maritime Academy.
