Grace Fabry (Escondido, Calif.) opened the scoring for the Fighting Scots just 5:33 into the game on a feed from Hawkins. Hawkins picked up her second assist at the 15:46 mark when she found Scott in front of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Gordon added another quick goal to open the second half, when Scott blasted a shot through traffic. Johnson & Wales came back with a goal from junior Amanda Takach (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) at the 45:25 mark.
Gordon attempted to put the game out of reach with a flurry of shots in the final twenty minutes, including five by senior
Katherine Bailey (Baltimore, Md.), but the Wildcat's freshman goalkeeper, Shannon Yoder (Boyertown, Pa.), kept the deficit at two with several impressive stops. Yoder finished with 10 saves, many coming on shots from close range.
Gordon finished the game with a 16-1 advantage in shots taken, including an 11-1 edge in the second half. The Fighting Scots also held a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Sunday's final will mark the first meeting between Gordon and Plymouth State since Oct. 31, 2001, when the Panthers shutout the Fighting Scots 5-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Plymouth State, playing in its seventh straight ECAC Final, will look to add its third championship in the last five years.
