Strong Start Guides Scots Past Husson, 14-4

Box Score
Bangor, Maine – Gordon Women's Lacrosse improved to 2-0 on the young season with a commanding 14-4 win over host Husson University on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.

The Scots came out quickly to pepper Husson keeper Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, R.I.) for 10 unanswered goals in the first half and stifle the Eagles. That momentum carried into the second frame as Gordon notched two early goals to establish a healthy 12-0 advantage after 37 minutes of play.

The Eagles found their offensive stride in the second half, staging a comeback attempt that in the end fell short as Gordon's Stephanie Fitzgerald (Sr./Groveland, Mass.) added two more security goals in the second half to clinch the 10-point victory.

Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, Conn.) grabbed two of Eagles' goals to inch closer to the 100-point milestone in her career, while senior Kim Gambon (Walpole, Mass.) and first year Mattie Russell (Hope Valley, R.I.) added the other two goals for the Eagles.

Anna Blomberg (Sr./Simsbury, Conn.) recorded five goals for Gordon, while Fitzgerald picked up four goals and one assist and Jessie Castelline (So./Concord, Mass.) picked up three goals and two assists.

Gordon goalies Danielle Maguire (Sr./Braintree, Mass.) and Julianne Kirkpatrick (Jr./Rochester, N.Y.) shared time in net, combining for seven saves on the afternoon, while Dolloff finished with six stops for Husson.

The Scots have a few days off before hosting non-conference MIT on Thursday, March 13 at 7p.m. The Eagles (0-2) will head to Johnson and Wales this Monday, March 10 for a 4p.m. game time.
