Match ResultsMILTON, Mass.—Gordon Men's Tennis blanked an opponent for the second time during the 2014 season, handing host Curry College a lopsided 9-0 loss. The Fighting Scots dropped only five total games between three doubles matches and cruised in singles' play to notch their second CCC victory of the year.
The Scots won their second consecutive match thanks in part to a dominating effort in doubles play. Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.) and Dan Christensen (Attleboro, Mass.) won their first match since becoming a pair midseason, beating Lucas Donaway and Frank LaMotte, 8-1. Richie Armand (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Daniel Dufoe (Malvern, Pa.) also received their first win playing together at third doubles, posting an 8-2 win.
Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) continued their tear through the conference by trumping Toma Blatchford and Joe Berger, 8-2, at first doubles. The duo improves to 6-1 in conference play, entering their final match at Wentworth on Wednesday afternoon.
Hall didn't relent in singles play, breezing past Blatchford with a 6-0, 6-0 result at the top flight. Gaudio performed just as well at second singles with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Berger at two. Armand clinched the match for the Scots with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles.
Christensen and Daniel Alvarado (Bedford, N.H.) also pulled off straight-set victories at fifth and sixth singles respectively. Daugherty fought back from a tough first set to beat Donaway, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
