WENHAM, Mass.—A three-day layover did not cool off a red-hot Gordon Men's Soccer team as they cruised to their second straight 3-0 victory. The Fighting Scots received a goal from each of their top three goal scorers in a rout over visiting Lasell College on Tuesday night at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
The Fighting Scots followed a similar script of their dominating win over Western New England on Saturday, by using an early goal to gain control of the match.
Caleb Cole (Coatesville, Pa.) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the sixth minute of the game off a feed from
Evan Crocker (Akron, Ohio).
Gordon outshot the Lasers 5-2 in the period, but could not come up with another score before halftime as Lasell settled into a tight defensive formation.
The Fighting Scots' tendency to wear their opponents down in the second half continued as CCC Offensive Player of the Week
Daniel Perez (Bedford, Mass.) kept his hot streak going with a pretty goal in the 47
th minute.
Joshua Cochran (Bellville, Ohio) assisted Perez on the score and now leads the team in the category halfway through his freshman campaign.
Gordon kept the pressure on and wave after wave they found cracks in the Lasell defense for good scoring chances. Lasers' goalkeeper Miguel Colmenares made several big saves in the second half to keep the game manageable, but Gordon's offense was incessant. Crocker added his second consecutive one-goal, one-assist effort with another unassisted score in the game's 68
th minute. The score deflated Lasell's counter focus and put them in a three-goal hole with 20 minutes to play.
Gordon played a possession game for the remainder and improved to 9-1 on the season with the dominant performance. Lasell falls to 4-5 on the season. Colmenares made four saves for the Lasers in the loss, while
Josh Spoonhour (Greencastle, Pa.) returned from injury to pitch the shutout and two saves.
The Fighting Scots have four days off to get ready for a rivalry matchup with Endicott on Homecoming weekend this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Lasell plays the same day at home against Johnson & Wales at noon.
