WENHAM, Mass.—Freshman
Tyler Modzeleksi (Cazenovia, N.Y.) was involved in Gordon's first three goals in a 4-0 win over Eastern Nazarene on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots won their seventh straight game to improve to 9-2, while the Lions fall to 7-6 in 2015.
Modzeleski scored his first career goal a week ago in a dominant Homecoming win against Curry. The striker was impressive for the second game in a row, scoring just two minutes into the contest with Eastern Nazarene on Saturday. Modzeleski took a ball away from a defender in ENC's defensive third and made the Lions pay with a strike.
The Fighting Scots grew their lead to two goals when Modzeleski found the twine again in the 24
th minute.
Josh Beveridge (Anchorage, Alaska) passed ball off
Ian Burkhart (Lancaster, Pa.) coming off a screen and Burkhart sent a pass straight to the feet of Modzeleski. The big forward put a quick right foot on the ball and sent it off the inside of the left post for the score.
Gordon struck early in the second half to put a safe distance between the two squads.
Caleb Cole (Coatesville, Pa.) was stopped on a penalty kick by Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) in the 46
th minute, but Cole got his goal just a few minutes later. Modzeleski ushered a low ball across the face of the goal and Cole was able to slide in front of his mark for the 3-0 lead.
The Fighting Scots scored their final tally of the game in the 61
st minute when
Evan Crocker (Akron, Ohio) danced his way past his defender.
Josh Cochran (Bellville, Ohio) found Crocker open on a long ball from midfield and the senior did the rest to poke it around MacFarland.
Gordon outshot ENC 24-3 in the game and 11-2 in shots on goal. MacFarland made seven saves, while
Josh Spoonhour (Greencastle, Pa.) picked up two stops.
Eastern Nazarene returns home for a battle with Emerson on Wednesday. Gordon must gear up for an away game with defending champion Tufts on Tuesday in Medford.
